What is USDC?
USD Coin, known as USDC, is a stablecoin pegged to the United States dollar and issued by the company Circle. Each token is meant to be redeemable for exactly one dollar, backed by reserves held in cash and short term government debt that independent accountants attest to every month. People use USDC to send dollars anywhere in the world in minutes, to earn yield in decentralized finance, and to sidestep volatility without cashing out. It is widely viewed as one of the more transparent stablecoins, though it still carries issuer risk.
Crypto is volatile. Prices on this page can move 10 percent or more in a single day, and entire projects can fail outright. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any digital asset. Only invest money you can truly afford to lose.
